Paul M. Baars (born 1949)
A free-lance graphic designer in Amsterdam. He received his degree in design from the Royal Academy of Fine and Applied Arts in The Hague ...
While working in New York City as a designer, Paul photographed in 1972 his first manhole cover. Since then he travelled extensively and photographed many 'streetobjects'. He now has many different series. One of them consists of a few thousand slides of manhole- and handhole covers. Some of them were used as the basis for printing silkscreens.
The silkscreens by Paul M. Baars have 3 layers of color, printed on white textured paper. The actual printing was done in co-operation with master-printer Rolf Henderson.
